Finisterra – Cooperativa de Laticínios do Topo, CRL was founded on May 22, 1944, and has since become a leading local institution in economic, social and even cultural terms, taking on the promotion of the culture of cooperativism within our community.
Our industry
The new factory was designed to ensure widespread production of high-quality cheese, capable of competing not only in the Portuguese and European markets, but also in the demanding and interesting North American market – here not only in the so-called “nostalgia market” (the market of Azorean emigrants), but in the global market of the United States and Canada.
Brands
It is a cured cheese, obtained from whole, raw cow’s milk, produced in the Topo area, on the island of São Jorge, with a semi-hard, yellowish-white paste, with small, irregular holes (eyes) spread throughout the consistent mass.
